I live on unceded Wiyot—pronounced wee-ought—land that surrounds Humboldt Bay in Northern California. As an ally, it’s important to me to acknowledge that they never formally gave or legally signed over this land to the US government. To find out more about who lived on the land you’re now living on, check out Native Land Digital.
This beautiful, amazing land stretches from the lower Klamath River basin and the majestic Redwoods to the Pacific Ocean. Eighty or so years ago, Humboldt Bay was dredged, creating the land that I am humbled, privileged, and ever so grateful to call home, King Salmon.
In August of 2024, the Klamath River was undamed, allowing the waters to run free and the salmon to come home to spawn. In 2025, the Yurok Tribe reclaimed 47,000 acres of their Ancestral land along this waterway. Check out this video about this restoration of the Klamath from Yurok Tribal members.
My cosmology—or how I understand the world—is that all human Beings and all our non-human kin are One. We all come from the same Source, everything around us comes from that same Source. We are all kin. I value the inherent dignity and worth of all life. I value the wisdom of the Ancestors who are a very real presence in my life.
My life’s work, as I’m coming to see it at the ripe old age of Crone-hood, is to live in such a way that I embody the Divine Feminine. It’s taken these several decades to find the courage to put myself out there as an expression of Her. Yet, as the Year of the Fire Horse approaches in 2026 and with the help of the Ancestors, I’ve found sparks of bravery to share these parts of myself with you.
In 2023, I became interested in my own ancestral lineage and took one of those mail-order DNA tests. It confirmed what I already knew: German on my father’s side, and northern European on my mother’s. Digging deeper, I found out about my Druid roots which explained my being so strongly drawn—for decades—toward Turtle Island Indigenous ways of being. They have much in common, viewing the Earth as a Living and Sacred Being, for example.
In the summer of 2025, I found myself in Salem Massachusetts, a trip orchestrated by a dear friend, learning a lot about the connection I have with three of the women who were killed as part of the Witch Trials of 1692. There were 18 people who died during this horrific event, and three of them were family—my Ancestors.
In the turbulent and divisive world we live in today, the need is beyond crucial to restore balance to ourselves, to our communities and societies stretching around the world, in order to even have a world upon which to live. It is my hope that my work adds to the host of other voices working toward peace, unification, and love that we so desperately need.
